When you are doing a bathroom remodel, you’ll want to find the best bathroom tile designs to liven up your floor or your walls. Bathroom tiles come in many different textures, patterns, sizes and shapes, and they will form the base for any bathroom redesign you consider.
Ceramic bathroom tiles are used quite often, because they are durable and they resist dampness. They are safe to walk on even when they’re wet, and they’re easy to keep clean. You may want to use ceramic tiles that have a slip-resistant surface when you lay them in a bathroom. If you select unglazed tiles for your bathroom, they will need frequent washing, since they easily absorb stains. The shapes of floor tiles for bathrooms may be octagons, hexagons, rectangles or squares, and accent pieces for the design can be small and narrow, and shaped like diamonds.
If you decide to use ceramic floor tiles that are of a solid color, you might want to add border tiles in a different color, or alternate colors around the border. This type of treatment might give you an interesting floor design. You can also lay your wall tiles in a diagonal pattern, or select different sizes of tiles for the wall, for an interesting effect.
Select a color of grout that will contrast with the color of your ceramic tiles. If you use white or light tiles, you may want to use yellow, red or blue grout, so that it will show contrast. Make sure that you apply a sealer to any grout lines that are in a heavy traffic area, since this will preserve and protect your grout colors.
If you want to include your favorite color in your bathroom tile designs, add some tiles of that color in the wall or floor tiles. You can also use border, textures and shapes for eye appeal. You might also choose some wall tile rows and place some tiles in your favorite color diagonally, to make another interesting effect.
If you want your bathroom to have a more contemporary look and style, you might use bold and bright colors with graphics or shapes, against a plain background. You can use fixtures and accessories in a contemporary design to add to your modern bathroom look. If you’re striving to create a Victorian or romantic bathroom, use soft floral colors like light blue or pink in your tiles, and add a ceramic sink in white or hand-painted pastels. For a bathroom with a Mediterranean look, mix Mexican and terra cotta tiles on the floor, and use another color of hand-painted tiles on the countertop.
Bathroom tile color is important to consider, because color can affect the mood you’re in. It can energize or calm you. Warm colors such as yellow and peach are fun, and they will make your bathroom feel cozy. They also go complement a country décor. Neutral colors like whites or beiges will help the room to look bigger than it is. Colors like violet, green and blue are cool and serene colors. Red or black can add drama, and they also absorb light, which makes the room look smaller.
